Deciding Where to Die

Thursday March 27, 2008
Choosing where to spend the final days of life isn't always pleasant or easy. Would you prefer a hospital with it's advanced technology and plentiful staff? How about a nursing home with 24 hour nursing care or a residential care facility with it's home-like setting? What about dying at home in familiar territory surrounded by your loved ones?

It's a decision many people don't want to think about until it's too late and their options are slim. Scrambling around at the last minute looking for 24 hour care or trying to find a bed in a care facility only makes a difficult time more excruciating. Planning ahead, exploring your options, and considering the pros and cons of each can make the decision an easier one to make.

Having a plan in place doesn't mean your giving up or that death is going to come sooner; it only means that when the time comes, you will be prepared.
