Now an adult, his daughter has been diagnosed with cancer in her intestine that has spread to her liver. His story is touching and he's put a call out to his readers to share their stories of hope.

Sadly, Martinez's column has been discontinued because of budget cutbacks, much to this dismay of his many fans. His column may be going away but his hope for his daughters recovery remains strong.
