South Carolina May Change It's Mind About Hospice

Monday January 19, 2009
The Associated Press reported that South Carolina agreed to restore hospice benefits to it's Medicaid only patients. The House voted 113-0 in favor of restoring the benefit to help low income terminally ill patients. The bill will be presented to the Senate in two weeks.

What a relief! I have been so upset over this decision for the past couple of weeks. I hope Florida takes this to heart as they consider cutting the same service for their Medicaid only patients.

I encourage all of you to stay active in your area regarding health care policy. I have high hopes that with Obama's presidency will come positive health care reform but any kind of reform requires us, as citizens, to voice our opinion to our leaders.
