Do you remember the jingle Burger King (BK) used in the 1970s? The lyrics included "Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us," and the refrain touted that BK wanted you to "Have it your way."
Well, thanks to a loving family and a creative funeral director recently, a deceased World War II vet not only had one last burger "his way" but so did the members of his funeral procession en route to a Pennsylvania cemetery.
When the funeral director working with the family of David Kime asked if the funeral service could be personalized somehow, Kime's daughter mentioned her father's love of the BK "Whopper Junior." Inspired, the funeral director arranged for the local BK to prep about 40 "beef bullets" ahead of the funeral procession's arrival. Once there, every vehicle stopped at the drive-thru window to pick up a memorial burger.
The video at this link tells the whole wonderfully wacky tale, including what Kime's daughter did with a BK burger at the actual gravesite to honor her father.
Which fast-food chain do you prefer: BK, McD or something else? And how would you have your funeral or memorial service "your way"? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
