Nasogastric (NG) Tube Definition

Definition: A nasogastric tube, or NG tube, is a tube inserted through the nose and into the stomach. It is most often used to administer nutrition and medications to someone who is unable to take in food, fluids, and medication orally. It can also be used to remove contents from the stomach with suction.
