Definition:

A power of attorney is a document that allows you to appoint a person to handle your affairs if you become unable to do so yourself. The appointed person or organization becomes the "agent".

General Power of Attorney - authorizes the agent to act on your behalf in various different situations.

Power of Attorney for Healthcare - authorizes the agent to make health care decisions on your behalf if you are incapacitated.

Special Power of Attorney - authorizes the agent to act on your behalf in certain specified situations only.
