Pressure Ulcer Definition

Definition: A pressure ulcer, also known as a bed sore, is an area of soft tissue damage that usually develop in areas where soft tissues are compressed between bony prominences and external surfaces, such as a bed or wheelchair, for an extended period of time. Common areas affected include the lower spine, hips, heels, and elbows.
