Terminal restlessness is a distressing symptom that may occur in some patients at the end of life. It is characterized by anguish, restlessness, agitation, and cognitive (mental) failure. It may also include delusions or hallucinations (believing or seeing things that are not real). It is a serious symptom and needs to be recognized and treated promptly.
